About Cottonwood
Cottonwood is a deciduous tree that is native to North America and is part of the willow family. It is a fast-growing tree that can reach heights of up to 70 feet and can live for up to 200 years. Cottonwood trees are known for their thick, furrowed bark and their large, heart-shaped leaves. The leaves are a light green in the spring and summer and turn yellow in the fall.
Cottonwood trees are often found in moist, low-lying areas near rivers, streams, and wetlands. They provide food and shelter for a variety of wildlife including birds, small mammals, and insects. The trees also provide shade and help to reduce soil erosion.
Cottonwood trees are popular for landscaping and can be used to create a natural fence or windbreak. The wood is also used for making furniture and other wood products. The bark and leaves of the tree have been used medicinally by Native Americans to treat a variety of ailments.
