About Port Of Los Angeles High School
Port of Los Angeles High School is an innovative public charter school located in the San Pedro area of Los Angeles. It is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and is the only high school in the district that focuses on maritime-related studies. The school offers a wide range of classes in marine science, maritime engineering, and maritime law, as well as other courses in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The school’s mission is to prepare students for college and careers in the maritime industry. Students are encouraged to take part in internships, job shadowing, and other career exploration opportunities. The school also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including sailing, robotics, and a student-run newspaper.
