About Alice M. Worsley

Alice M. Worsley was a pioneering woman in the field of history. She was born in 1871 in England and studied at the University of Cambridge, where she earned a degree in history. She was the first woman to be appointed to a lectureship in history at Cambridge, and she was also the first woman to be elected to the British Academy.
Alice was a prolific writer, publishing works on a wide range of topics, from the history of the British Empire to the history of women in the Middle Ages. She was also a tireless advocate for women’s rights, campaigning for equal access to education and for better working conditions for women.
Alice was a passionate educator, teaching at both Cambridge and Oxford. She was a popular lecturer, known for her wit and her ability to make history come alive for her students.
